Job description

You as Technical Project Manager

You make sure internal technical projects are taken from idea to execution. You bring structure, monitor progress and make sure no loose ends are left behind.

You ask the right questions, make complexity manageable and ensure everyone knows what is needed to move forward. In doing so, you are the connecting link between technology, planning and execution.

In short: you make technical complexity workable. With structure, clarity and a healthy dose of BTV get-things-done mentality.

You work closely with colleagues from Hardware, Firmware, Product, Operations and Development, and support the Head of Development in organizing and moving technical projects forward. Not by building the technical solution yourself, but by understanding exactly what is going on: which dependencies exist, where risks arise, what needs to be prioritized and who needs to be involved at what moment.

What will you do?

You will work on internal technical projects within Dutch IoT Solutions. Think of system developments, validation processes, technical improvements, integrations, process optimizations and projects involving multiple disciplines at the same time.

You will also help maintain oversight of the technical roadmap: you will contribute to discussions about priorities, dependencies and feasibility, working closely with the Project Manager within the Product team. This ensures that technical projects and product development are properly aligned, rather than trying to move forward separately.

In short: projects where technology, planning, priorities and people can quite happily get in each other’s way — unless you are involved.

You ensure that planning, progress, resources, priorities and quality remain properly aligned. You make technical goals concrete, translate them into clear actions and make sure everyone knows what needs to happen. No loose ends, no vague “we’ll take another look at it” agreements, just clarity.

More specifically, you will:

  • Coordinate, execute and monitor the progress of internal technical projects;

  • Create and monitor project plans, schedules, milestones and dependencies;

  • Align with Hardware, Firmware, Product, Operations and Development on priorities, resources and deadlines;

  • Contribute to the technical roadmap and ensure projects align with the broader product and development planning;

  • Work closely with the Project Manager within the Product team to properly align dependencies, priorities and timing;

  • Ensure that technical deliverables, validation and quality are properly followed up;

  • Identify risks, bottlenecks and dependencies in time, preferably before they cheerfully grow into real problems;

  • Make actions concrete and ensure agreements are followed through;

  • Prepare decision-making or escalations when projects risk getting stuck;

  • Create transparency for stakeholders around progress, decisions and risks;

  • Contribute ideas for smarter ways of working, better project structures, templates and tooling.

You make sure technical projects are not only discussed in meetings, but actually move forward afterwards. A rather essential detail, we thought.

Job requirements

What do you bring?

You get energy from projects where multiple interests, dependencies and action points come together — especially when there is a technical component involved. You do not need to be able to build hardware, firmware or software yourself, but you are interested in understanding what is going on. You ask the right questions, bring structure and ensure technical topics are translated into clear planning, actions and decision-making.

You are structured, analytical and sharp on details. At the same time, you remain practical: in a scale-up, not everything is perfectly predictable, and you are perfectly comfortable with that. You bring calm, keep people focused and make sure things do not fall between the cracks. You dare to take action when something is unclear and know how to get colleagues on board without needing to be formally in charge.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience in coordinating, executing or supporting projects, preferably in a technical, product or operations environment.

  • Affinity with topics such as hardware, firmware, software, IoT, product development or operations.

  • Strong skills in planning, organizing and monitoring progress.

  • The ability to make dependencies, risks and priorities clear.

  • Experience with stakeholder management in an environment with multiple teams and interests.

  • Good communication skills: clear, pleasant and not afraid to ask follow-up questions.

  • A proactive mindset: you do not wait until something derails, but take action in time.

  • A structured, accurate and solution-oriented way of working.

You are a great fit for this role if you do not see technical complexity as something you need to solve entirely by yourself, but as a puzzle that requires overview, clear agreements and a bit of common sense.

About us

Dutch IoT Solutions (DIS) is the hardware and firmware center of Bright Technology Ventures. We design and produce robust IoT devices that are used every day in demanding environments such as retail, FMCG and logistics.

At DIS, we develop all our hardware and firmware fully in-house, from energy-efficient beacons to advanced asset trackers. This end-to-end approach gives us maximum control over quality, reliability and battery performance. Our devices are designed for long-term use, high volumes and the realities of day-to-day logistics.

All DIS hardware is produced in Europe. This enables us to innovate quickly, safeguard high quality standards and work closely with the other labels within Bright Technology Ventures.

Our solutions form the physical foundation for applications such as Connected Load Carrier (CLC). Without reliable hardware, there is no reliable data — and that is exactly where our strength lies.

As part of the BTV ecosystem, we work together with specialists in connectivity, software and data intelligence. This ensures that our devices are not only technically strong, but also function seamlessly within complete end-to-end IoT solutions.

You will join a technical scale-up environment where hardware, firmware, data and connectivity work closely together. We build outdoor IoT solutions, such as beacons and trackers, that need to perform in the real world — rain, cold, heat, vibrations… you name it. Short lines of communication, plenty of responsibility and the space to simply get things right.

What we offer

  • Working in a scale-up: short lines of communication, lots of ownership and fast decision-making;

  • Collaboration with driven professionals who value substance over hierarchy;

  • Market-conform employment conditions that fit the phase we are in as a company — read: scale-up;

  • Of course, room for ideas, improvement and healthy technical ownership;

  • Flexible working hours and the possibility to work hybrid — although we do count on your lovely personality to brighten up our office regularly too. We never force Brabant-style sociability, but we definitely encourage it;

  • A flexible number of vacation days: as long as we deliver what is needed, a lot is possible;

  • Daily shared lunch where, for once, it does not have to be about work;

  • Fun team outings, drinks on Thursdays or Fridays and plenty of laughs alongside the hard work;

  • The option to participate in our bike plan;

  • Travel allowance of €0.25 per kilometer or an NS Business Card;

  • And of course, we contribute to your pension accrual.
