Job description

You as Head of Data & AI

Within Connected Load Carrier, you put data on the map. How much data are we talking about? In short: a lot. But if we don’t use it, it’s just an expensive digital hobby. That’s why we’re looking for our future Head of Data & AI — someone who turns signals, models and insights into something that makes our product smarter and our decisions truly data-driven. Win-win.

As part of the Management Team, you carry end responsibility for the Data & AI domain: strategy, roadmap, governance, quality, adoption. It’s still largely to be built — your playground. You ask the questions we need to ask. Nice plan… but what does it actually deliver?

We’re an IoT scale-up, so expect pace, freedom and ownership. You work directly with the Product Director, align with Product, Tech, UX and the business, and ensure your team makes real impact. Speaking of your team — we’ll build that together. You’ll have significant influence there as well. You set the direction and guard the focus; they build, test and improve. Together you establish and grow Data & AI within CLC.

What will you be doing?

You build and anchor our Data & AI strategy end-to-end: from vision and roadmap to governance, prioritization and value tracking. You ensure that data and AI initiatives contribute to product differentiation, scalable growth and better decision-making — with reliable, explainable output that customers and colleagues can trust.

Concretely, this means:

  • Defining the Data & AI strategy and sharpening it quarterly (and translating it into a clear roadmap/portfolio);

  • Prioritizing based on impact, risk, feasibility, dependencies and capacity;

  • Identifying and validating new use cases together with Product and Business (hypotheses, business cases, PoCs/MVPs);

  • Owning data and AI functionalities within our platform;

  • Defining and safeguarding KPIs, metrics and definitions (single source of truth, calculation logic, interpretation);

  • Ensuring governance and quality: data quality, consistency, security, responsible and explainable AI usage;

  • Collaborating with Tech Leads/Architects on data architecture and scalable implementations;

  • Reviewing output for customers and internally for content accuracy and real value;

  • Measuring impact and adjusting based on results (value tracking);

  • Structurally organizing alignment with Product, Tech, UX and Business and documenting decisions;

  • Reporting to the MT on progress, quality, risks and impact — and driving organization-wide adoption.

Job requirements

What do you bring?

  • Academic degree (Data Science, AI, Business Analytics, Econometrics, (Technical) Business Administration or similar);

  • 7–10+ years of experience in data-driven product, innovation or strategic roles;

  • Proven experience with data and/or AI products that deliver real customer value;

  • Strong understanding of data architecture, modeling and AI applications;

  • Experience in cross-functional environments (Product, Tech, Business);

  • Experience in a SaaS/platform/tech scale-up setting.

And in terms of style:

  • You combine strategy with execution: setting direction and making things happen;

  • You’re comfortable making decisions (and sometimes saying “no”);

  • You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders;

  • You take ownership without overruling Product.

About us

At Connected Load Carrier, we dream of a truly connected supply chain — and that requires more than smart devices or strong software. It requires a reliable and scalable ecosystem built for the complexity of retail, FMCG, logistics and pooling. That’s exactly what we deliver at Connected Load Carrier (CLC).

CLC is part of Bright Technology Ventures (BTV) and benefits from the strength of an integrated IoT ecosystem. Within BTV, specialized organizations collaborate, each with deep expertise in a crucial layer of the IoT chain.

CLC hardware is fully designed and manufactured in Europe by Dutch IoT Solutions (DIS). By developing our own devices — from energy-efficient beacons to advanced asset trackers — we guarantee robust solutions with long battery life and reliable performance, even in high-volume, high-intensity environments.

What we offer

  • An MT role with significant influence on product direction and strategic decisions;

  • Working in a scale-up: short lines, high ownership, fast decision-making;

  • The opportunity to truly establish governance, standards and data-driven ways of working;

  • Collaboration with driven professionals who value expertise over hierarchy;

  • Competitive employment conditions aligned with our current scale-up phase;

  • Plenty of room for ideas, improvement and healthy technical ownership;

  • Flexible working hours and hybrid working options — though we do expect your friendly personality to regularly brighten up the office (Brabant-style gezelligheid is never mandatory, but definitely encouraged);

  • Flexible number of vacation days: as long as we deliver what’s needed, there’s room for flexibility;

  • Daily shared lunch where work talk is optional;

  • Fun team outings, Thursday or Friday drinks, and plenty of laughs alongside the hard work;

  • Opportunity to participate in our bike plan;

  • Travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometer or an NS Business Card;

  • Of course, we contribute to your pension plan.

Interested?

Do you see yourself bringing direction, oversight and technical maturity to a scalable IoT organization? And are you also simply a great person to collaborate with? Then we’d love to meet you.

You can reach out to Robbert via R.vdvorst@btv-iot.com.
