Senior Hardware Engineer
- Hybrid
- 's Hertogenbosch, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands

- The IoT Provider
Job description
As a Senior Hardware Engineer…
you are the technical driver behind our hardware. You oversee the bigger picture, dive deep where necessary, and ensure our next-generation IoT modules are not only smart, but also robust, testable and certifiable.
You are our rock in the surf — not because everything moves forward calmly here (spoiler: it doesn’t), but because you thrive in an environment where things are being built and you remain steady and structured. In a scale-up, that means freedom, responsibility and sometimes a roadmap that needs to be made a bit smarter along the way. That doesn’t throw you off; you turn it into structure.
You coach one hardware engineer within the team and manage external development partners and suppliers. No heavy management layers, but plenty of ownership.
What will you be doing?
You are technically end-responsible for electronics hardware design for outdoor IoT products (from concept to delivery).
You coach and guide one hardware engineer in day-to-day collaboration (stand-ups, priorities, technical sparring).
You identify hardware development requirements driven by product innovation and translate them into clear specifications and an actionable approach.
You collaborate closely with firmware, data and connectivity teams to ensure smooth integration (Sub-GHz, LTE-M/NB-IoT, GPS).
You manage external development partners and safeguard quality, timelines and knowledge transfer.
You coordinate testing, validation and certification (including CE, IP67, battery safety, HALT/HAST).
You stimulate modularization and scalability, enabling faster scaling and smarter outsourcing.
You contribute to the product roadmap (battery lifetime, environmental durability, connectivity upgrades) together with Solution Engineering and Sales.
Job requirements
What do you bring?
You have a solid foundation and enjoy building in an IoT/SaaS environment where data continuously flows in.
Experience & knowledge
Master’s degree (Computer Science / Software Engineering / Data Science / AI or similar)
3–5 years of experience as a Data Engineer (preferably in SaaS, platform or IoT environments)
Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP
Strong in SQL and familiar with dbt or comparable tooling
Git + CI/CD are naturally part of your workflow
Bonus: experience with time-series, telemetry or location data
Basic knowledge of secure cloud environments and ISO 27001/ISMS (understanding > certificates)
You as a person
Software engineering mindset (clean, tested, maintainable)
Analytical and structured in complex data challenges
Proactive: you spot improvement opportunities and act on them
You balance performance, scalability and security
You collaborate well in multidisciplinary teams
About the team & organization
At The IoT Provider, we deliver the global connectivity layer within Bright Technology Ventures. We ensure IoT devices stay connected anytime, anywhere.
Our strength lies in fully unburdening connectivity. Thanks to our global network, devices remain automatically online without customers having to deal with SIM cards, roaming profiles or telecom contracts. At TIP, connectivity is not a standalone component but an integrated part of the total solution.
Within Connected Load Carrier (CLC) applications, TIP forms the quiet yet crucial link. We ensure reliable data transmission, seamless cross-border operation and continuous asset tracking availability.
As part of the BTV ecosystem, we work closely with hardware and software teams. This ensures our connectivity solutions perfectly match the devices and platforms they run on — scalable, stable and designed for long-term use.
What we offer
A new role in a scale-up with short lines of communication and plenty of ownership (no need to collect 12 signatures to improve something);
Employment conditions that match our phase: a clear salary without complicated bonus structures that never really take off;
Hybrid working is definitely possible, with the expectation that you are in the office several days per week to build together and contribute to our culture;
Flexible working hours: you organize your day as it suits you, as long as commitments and responsibilities are met and we deliver what we promise;
Flexible number of vacation days: we focus on results and trust, not on “3.5 days remaining”;
Travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometer or an NS Business Card;
Pension contribution — one answer: of course;
Opportunity to participate in a bike plan;
Daily shared lunch at the office, rule: no talking about work. Sometimes harder than it sounds;
Plenty of team activities (drinks/outings), optional — but usually gezellig. We are Brabanders after all.
Interested?
Does this sound like your sweet spot? Then apply! You’re welcome to add a creative motivation letter — not required, but always appreciated if you surprise us.
For questions, you can email r.vdvorst@btv-iot.com and he will get back to you as soon as possible.
Hope to speak to you soon!
